Coaching the game of basketball and playing the game of basketball is Coach Young’s passion. He has been blessed with the abilities to play the game of basketball. Coach Young feels that his knowledge of the game is gradually increasing as he has learned so much from the coaches and mentors that he has had throughout the course of his life. Coach Young is a Saint Louis native and grew up loving and playing the game of basketball right here in the Saint Louis area. He attended the prestigious Saint Louis University High School where he earned three varsity letters. In 2009, (senior year) Coach Young transferred to Kirkwood High School and that same year, led his team to a District Championship. He was also voted District MVP and led the entire Saint Louis Area in Assists per game. After graduation, Coach Young attended Saint Louis University and played for a year as a walk-on for Coach Rick Majerus. After Saint Louis University, he transferred to Maryville University, where he was the starting point guard for his team. Coach Young feels that playing at such an elite level throughout the course of his career has equipped him with the knowledge and enhanced his ability to teach the game of basketball. Throughout the course of time, Coach Young feels that basketball has become his vocation and loves teaching players of all age groups the essential skills, and personal development tools that are necessary to excel in life and the game of basketball. Utilizing an assortment of drills to enhance his students’ knowledge and fundamental skills of the game that can carry over to life, consequently, enhancing their ability as a player and person.
